Our Last Season of T-Ball

IMG_20140628_130237This weekend we wrapped up our last season of T-Ball…ever!  If Bryan decides to play ball next year he will graduate to peanut baseball.  He seemed to have fun this year so knows what he will decide for next year.  But it’s sort of bitter sweet to think that we are DONE with T-Ball either way.  Granted, T-Ball can be a little …tedious, with lots of reminders to stop playing the dirt, watch the ball etc, it still feels a bit like the end of an era!  I’m still trying to figure out how the little butterball of a baby that spent a sweaty summer watching the older boys play T-Ball got to be so grown up!!

Timmy and team played in some crazy for last week. It was damp and chilly and all around not too pleasant. But all worth it since they all played great and came away with a win!

925870_247317755459222_1723321908_nWell it’s only taken over 11 years but I finally feel like an OFFICIAL mom! What?  Yeah I’ve been through three labors and more years of diapers than I could count but there was something about this milestone that made me feel more fully indoctrinated into this club we call motherhood.  As I sat with my oldest son waiting for the Dr to return with word on the X-Ray.  I felt more grown up than before.

Thankfully it’s not a bad break.  Actually it’s apparently a questionable break.  But none the less it was our first ER trip.  And with three boys having a combined existence of almost 30 years it seems pretty impressive that we lasted this long.  Now if only we can go another 11+ years before we have to go back!

Note: he got this injury for FLAG football.  two years without injury in tackle to be hurt in FLAG football.  So fellow moms, you just never know.  I chose to let him do what he loves and pray for safety!!

Family Fun at WWE Payback

Our family is being hosted by WWE in exchange for our coverage of this event.

I’ll be honest and say this totally isn’t my scene. But the boys are asked to have an open mind when attending events I’d like to go to so I’m doing the same. Plus, there’s always the shirtless good looking men to get me through the night too!

My boys haven’t watched much, if any,  WWE on TV but have watched a ton of best of videos on youtube and really enjoy wrestling so it should be fun.  I’m assure that WWE is in fact great family entertainment so I’m excited to surprise the boys with these tickets on Sunday!  If you want to check it out in person visit Ticketmaster for WWE Payback tickets at Allstate Arena.  Otherwise you can get full info on how else you can watch WWE Payback here.

I already had my taxes submitted so I won’t be fast tracking but I imagine it would be easy as well.

March Madness #CatchItAll with @BestBuy @BestBuyWOLF

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free.

March Madness is back!  Have YOU got it?

I personally love basketball but the NCAA tournament is a LOT to keep up with.  But I love watching sports on my HDTV while staying connected with my cell phone or tablet as well.  I love being able to share the cheers and jeers with fellow fans via social media as well as being able to keep an eye one stats, brackets etc with websites and apps.
I know some might not agree but I think watching anything from sports to award shows can be more fun when you stay connected via social media.  It’s like being able to have all your friends over together.    And Best Buy helps keep you connected to the excitement with the devices and connectivity that make it possible.  Brought to life by the brand promise of the latest devices and services, all in one place.

And what I didn’t know, and I know my sports fanatic son will be excited to learn is that the entire tourney is being streamed live so he can watch on a mobile device anywhere!

What do YOU love about March Madness?

Quaker Oats “Fuel Up & Get Movin” Fitness Sport Pack Giveaway

Content/Giveaway brought to you by Quaker.

In exchange for hosting this giveaway I also received a similar prize pack.

quaker get movin fuel up 1Quaker and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck recently teamed up to judge the Make Your Move Video Contest. Parents and teachers could submit videos of their students “making their move” to get active. The contest was part of an ongoing partnership with Fuel Up to Play 60, the nation’s largest in-school wellness program. Winners of the grant were announced in January – you can view the winning submissions  here! And you really SHOULD check them out because these kids have some GREAT moves. I really love that one of the biggest ways that these kids highlighted getting moving is by dancing. While my boys are active in sports that get them moving outside, sometimes it can be hard to find ways to really move in our ridiculously long Midwest winters. One of our favorite ways to get moving in by cranking up some music and having a dance party in our living room!

White Sox hoping for Konerko return

Guest post from Gemma Collier

white soxChicago White Sox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf has admitted he is hopeful Paul Konerko will make the decision to re-sign with the franchise despite last season’s dismal campaign. In what was the Sox worst season since 1970, there have been a lot of movements behind the scenes since the end of the year, including Konerko’s initial decision not to yet sign up for what would be his 16th season as a White Sox player.

Konerko’s below-par season was one of the key reasons behind the White Sox’ struggles throughout the year. The 37-year old said at the end of last season that he felt he would only be used in a part-time role if he played next season, which would be a tough step down for a player who has been an integral part of the White Sox for the past 15-years.

Last year’s losing record has clearly had an impact on the White Sox fans hopes for next year, not to mention with the 2014 Betfair MLB odds, but there has been some significant moves made to ensure 2013 isn’t another waste of a year for the franchise.

White Sox chairman Reinsdorf made it clear the decision regarding Konerko’s future was down to whether or not the six-time All Star felt he wanted to play another season.

“He’s earned the right to come back if he wants to come back. He’s been the most popular player in the last 15 years that we’ve had. He’s a terrific teammate. He’s our captain. He just has to make a decision whether he wants to come back or not.”

On the back of a disappointing 63-99 finish in 2013, the White Sox have been busy getting ready for next season and wasting little time in ensuring next year isn’t a repeat of what happened last season. As well as agreeing to a six-year, $68-million deal with Cuban free-agent first baseman/designated hitter Jose Abreu, the franchise have kept Adam Dunn under contract for one more season and Jeff Keppinger for two more seasons.

While those signings will have boosted the White Sox ahead of next season, the management will know how beneficial it would be to the younger players in the squad to have Konerko there next season.

Chicago Bears Experience Wordless Wednesday 10-30-13 #WW

Last week I had the most amazing time with the Chicago Bears, specifically defensive end Corey Wooton, and Proctor and Gamble. I shared a ton of photos throughout the day on my instragram account but here are my two favorite shots of the day!

Corey Wooton was super super sweet!  And I am slightly flushed not only cuz I’m a total fan but because I’d just got done running a receiver drill…video of that coming soon to a blog near you.

Flag Football Kicks Off On A High Note

Timmy has a very busy schedule already with tackle football in addition to band, student council and robotics. But he’s been dying to be part of a sports team for his school so although it makes for some crazy days when Flag Football came up and didn’t conflict with tackle, we agreed he could play. Yesterday was their first game.
timmy flag football huddle

The first half of the game went along with no score, and no Timmy on the field.  This was a little surprising since it had sounded like he was doing so well in practice.  But after the game he told me they have two sets of starters each with their own sets of plays and this day was simple the other sets day.  But after the start of the second half, though he has never practiced at center the center asked for a break and the coach asked Timmy if he could do it.  With a VERY quick lesson on centering on the side line, in he went.

Because of the rules of flag football versus tackle pretty much all the players are eligible receivers, including the center.   And that’s exactly what Timmy did.  His reception was also a literal last second game winning touch down reception!  Pretty darn cool for his first school sport experience!!

I thought it called for a celebratory dinner so we headed to HuHot, one of our faves.  Of course there was much game talk on the way to and at dinner.  Some cockier comments like “I bet Ms C is glad she took my sports physical form late NOW!” made me laugh out loud.  (You’d have to know all the drama we went through with that form to fully appreciate that one.)  But overall he talked a lot about how he wouldn’t have had the chance for the game winning score if it wasn’t for one kid’s interception or another kid’s great run down the field to put them in scoring position.  I think I’m even prouder of his great attitude than the fact that he actually got that touch down.

Here’s to a continued good flag football season!
